Hi!

 It's so nice to meet you.  I am Sophia Velez, the owner and lead artist of Hair and makeup by Sophia.  I have a passion for all things related to beauty and well being.  Making you feel like the best version of yourself with the tools in my hand, (whether that be a blow drier or lipstick) is my highest goal.

I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years, learning and growing every day. I went to school for Cosmetology right out of high school and then to Salem State college graduating with a bachelor's degree in Social Work.

I worked in the salon for many years and took advanced hair and makeup classes to develop my skills. My favorite time of year while working in the salon was prom and wedding season.   I thought, if only I could style up-dos and do makeup every day!   

​

I found the world of free-lancing for weddings and special events when a fellow artist requested my services on location. I immediately knew that this was my calling!  I was so inspired and energized to be a part of this world.  The travel, the venues, the dresses, the flowers, I loved it all!  

 

Working with Brides, Photographers, and Planners to make a smooth and effortless day is what I do!   Let's chat more. I will create a seamless schedule for you and your guests.
